The Best Spanish Social Media Accounts

This week, I have decided to discuss the best social media accounts for learning Spanish. Last week, I discussed the best apps for learning Spanish. So, as a natural evolution, I thought that I would go over some YouTube channels and some Instagram accounts that are solid top notch accounts for learning and growing your knowledge of Spanish. Some of these have pages on Facebook as well, but I'm not going to focus on Facebook, as I feel that it isn't the best social media site for learning a language in my opinion.

Some of these are going to be a mix of Latin American Spanish from different countries, and I believe there is one from Spain. So, you should get a good mix of dialects of Spanish. I usually prefer to find accounts that teach Mexican Spanish, but unfortunately not all of them are the best, so I will occasionally opt for some Colombian channels or accounts. Of course, what really matters is that you can find someone you resonate with and can learn from, no matter the dialect of Spanish they teach. The basis of the Spanish language is the same. After learning a good solid base, you can learn the different words used for the region or country you're more interested in.

Ana has a great YouTube channel. She is probably one of the best Spanish teachers on YouTube. Her material couldn't be better. She covers so many important things concerning Spanish, and there is plenty of material here for both the beginner and the intermediate learner. Her material stays pretty updated. I think her last video is from a couple of weeks ago. In my opinion, she is just like sitting in a Spanish class. I honestly feel like I'm taking a good quality class from her, and you should take notes when watching her videos.

She also has a website you can visit. On her website you can sign up for free newsletters, and you can donate to her, because every single bit of her material is free. FREE! That's right. She doesn't charge a single penny. And because her channel is probably one of the best, that is why you should totally donate to her. She doesn't have an Instagram account, and her Facebook page hasn't been updated since 2019. So, YouTube is the place to go for all of her material.

The Spanish Dude has a great YouTube, especially for beginners. I haven't used his videos in quite some time, but I can say that they are very informative, and I enjoy watching his videos. The overwhelming majority of his videos are for the beginner level. It looks like he hasn't made any new videos in the last several months, so I'm not sure if he is still doing anything or not. He does have a website you can visit. Of course all of his videos on YouTube are free. He does have paid content on his website. Like I said, I don't know if he is still currently doing anything, but his website shows he has a Coronavirus special where you tell him how much you can afford, and that is your price. So, if he is still teaching, that would be one heck of a deal. And he's a really good teacher! He also has an Instagram account, which looks like it hasn't been updated since he last made a YouTube video this past summer.

Juan has a great YouTube channel that I thoroughly enjoy watching. Sometimes Juan speaks in Spanish and sometimes in English. However, you can always turn on the subtitles for the videos. Juan is from Mexico, which I enjoy, because sometimes he shares some colloquialisms from Mexico. Honestly, I probably should have put him further down the list. His material is a lower intermediate level, around a B1 level. So, if you are just starting out, you may not be ready for his material. Still yet, I highly recommend him. He has helped me understand so much.

Juan also has a website you can check out. I can't find anywhere on his site where he charges for any lessons or courses. So, that's a plus! Especially, if you don't have much money or no money to spend. His main mission is to get you to a point where you can speak Spanish fluently. He has free guidelines to help you make your first conversation in Spanish if you haven't already tried to talk to someone in Spanish yet. On his website he also has a blog you can check out.

Spanishacks also has an Instagram account that is very active, which I subscribe to.

Vicente is a certified DELE ( Diploma in Spanish as a Foreign Language) Spanish teacher. His material is excellent. He's very informative and enjoyable to watch. He is from Spain, so his dialect of Spanish reflects that. That really shouldn't matter at the beginning level though. So, for all of his material at the beginning level is perfect, and you'll learn a lot from him. He also has a website you can check out. He does have paid content on his website, which is reasonable. He is a certified Spanish teacher after all. You can subscribe to his content on his website for €17 a month or in dollars it is a little less than $21. On his website, it shows that he has a podcast too, which I haven't check out. So, I don't know anything about that, but since his videos are really good, I'm quite sure that his podcast is worth checking out as well. Vicente also has an Instagram account that you can follow.

Here is where we get into some more intermediate to advanced videos. Maria and Cody have a solid YouTube channel. In the beginning, all of their material was in English; however, Maria eventually decided to start recording all of her videos in Spanish, but the best way to learn is from being totally immersed in it. I know that this is something that most English speakers don't like to hear, but it's the absolute truth. This is why when people learn to teach English as a second language, English is always taught in English. And the same is also true for other languages as well. You can always turn the Spanish subtitles on in YouTube, and YouTube also allows you to slow down the speed of the audio and video. This isn't the channel to watch if you're a new Spanish student, just learning Spanish. But if you've finished the Duolingo Spanish course, then you might be ready to jump into this channel, because let's face it, you're going to have to immerse yourself in Spanish somehow. If you can't move to a Spanish speaking country, then this is how you're going to have to do it.

Maria and Cody have a website you can check out. You can subscribe to their material on their website for $31 dollars a month. If you're an intermediate student needing to immerse yourself, then this is a good option. Maria is from Colombia. Colombian Spanish has a tendency to be spoken a little slower, and I find that they annunciate their words better. So, actually if you're going to immerse yourself in Spanish, the Colombian dialect is probably the best dialect of Spanish for immersion.

Maria and Cody also have an Instagram account. They post videos regularly there as well. I follow them both on YouTube and Instagram.

Like with the previous YouTube channel, Spanishland is another channel that is mostly for learners at the intermediate level. Andrea mostly speaks in Spanish for the same reasons as the previous channel. However, Andrea does occasionally speak in English, especially when it is appropriate to do so, or when it just simply aids in the teaching process. Andrea is another Spanish teacher from Colombia. Sometimes she teaches colloquialisms from Colombia, and usually she will tell that those words are strictly used in Colombia. However, don't let this scare you from learning from her channel. The majority of her content is not regionally based. Also, with the fact that she is from Colombia, I do think it makes it a little easier to understand her.

Spanishland also has a website. They have paid content on their website to help you develop your Spanish at the intermediate level. Their paid content is a lot more expensive than some of the others. The standard package is $47 dollars, and the premium package is $79. I have never paid for their content, so I don't know what all they offer. They may have more material, or they may offer more services than others. I simply don't know. Her YouTube videos however, are very good. Her website also has a blog you can check out as well as podcasts you can listen to. Overall, Spanishland is a great resource for the intermediate level.

Spanishland also has an active Instagram account, which I also subscribe to. So, I also recommend checking that out.

Honorable Mentions:

Jim and May with Spanish&Go on YouTube and Instagram. They also have a good podcast too.
